You know what I love about music?
When it hits you, you can't feel pain. I love that quote, I first thought that one of my best friends just came up with that on his own. I was in the middle of a month of debauchery, so whatever happened during that time is a blur of great memories. I then found out who actually said it, Bob Marley. It makes sense now. I was thinking about that quote today and something hit me for the first time. Music can make you feel pain. Not all the time but there are songs that take you back to painful times in your life. Your first break up, the death of a loved one, any time that music was a part of a memory. It can also take you to anytime throughout your life. That song that was popular during the summer before your freshman year of high school, your senior song. These all take you back. I was in the car listening to a Matchbox 20 song and immediately I was taken back to the end of my senior year. I felt a feeling. I can't tell you what the feeling was but it was there in the pit of my stomach. It could have been the feeling that I had when my boyfriend at the time broke up with me right before prom, or the feeling that I had on prom because we ended up going together( not one of my best ideas). There are also songs that I can name that mean things to me. Thug Love, Stand Up and Get Crunk, Achy Breaky Heart, Tears in Heaven, all these songs mean something and can take me back to a moment in my life. It is true that when you first feel a song there is no pain but when a song hits you and brings you back to a moment in life whether it is good or bad you feel something. I will always love that quote, I will just have a different feeling about it. Thanks for putting up with my feelings, lol.
